I'm loving this guy.

I was taught to pull from the hip based upon these 2 angles.

1. It's higher up and gives you more height, even before the second pull has begun.

2. Extending from the hip has more power because it's like the "exit gate" for all the tension kept from the lower limbs. By extending from lower than the hip joint, we believe it "cuts" the smoothness of the lift.

That's why when I clean, I bend my arms and use my rhomboids and lower lats, to get it higher. There is a difference between bending and flexing.
